I Thought Everyone Was Exaggerating Until the Day My Teen Hit Me

Until the day my teen assaulted me, I thought everyone had been exaggerating the prevalence of violence in today’s youth. Unfortunately, this was not true. Since this terrible incident, I have come to realize that violent behavior has become so deeply ingrained in youth culture that dangerous repercussions are arising everyday. If you see signs of this in your child, it is important to act as quickly as possible before they find themselves in serious trouble. Zion Education Systems programs can find help for parents who have children that have attacked them and can be reached today at 866-471-8579.

How I Had My Eyes Opened About Violent Behavior In Youth

I came home from work in the late afternoon to find my wife’s car missing from our driveway. I called her and found that she had left to make a quick trip to the grocery store before dinner. As I walked into the house, I immediately noticed a strong smell coming from upstairs. I walked up to investigate and realized that the smell was marijuana and it was coming from my son’s room. I was understandably upset by this realization and opened his door to confront him about this blatant substance abuse . I grabbed the pipe from his hand and began to make it clear how angry I was about his behavior when things took a violent turn. Immediately after grabbing the pipe from my son’s hand, he responded by pushing me against the wall and trying to grab it back. When I refused to let him have it, he started screaming threats at me. I was stunned at this development but stood firm, telling him to sit back down and listen. Instead, he responded by throwing two quick punches, one to my stomach followed by one to my face. I was caught completely by surprise and stumbled out of the room only to realize I was bleeding. I ended up getting several stitches at the hospital, but the physical damage was nowhere near as painful as the damage that was done that day to my relationship with my son.
